From Assistant to Account Coordinator to CEO of Australia’s most exciting agency in only 15 years, Chris Howatson’s career has skyrocketed.
As the media industry struggles to calibrate real career progression for women, Chris has implemented ve key programs to retain and progress all women, and develop outstanding female leaders at CHE Proximity Australia.
Since early 2015, Chris has written individual contracts with every employee to create exibility. Agreements include additional leave for school holidays, working from home, starting late or leaving early, job sharing and access to agency resources for passion projects.
In 2016, Chris developed a re-entry program for women returning to work after maternity leave, including paying senior women a full-time salary with a day-a-week o – recognising the job is a full-time load, regardless of the number of days they are in the o ce.
And at the beginning of this year, he hit his goal to have 45 per cent of women on his leadership team – and hopes to reach 50 per cent by the end of 2018.
