Recognising exceptional women in media

Inspirational women are all around us – leading, innovating and mentoring the next generation, and B&T will recognise this with its annual Women in Media Awards, presented by Bauer Media Group.

Running for the seventh consecutive year, this program recognises those exceptional women who have achieved success in their professional arenas and celebrates their invaluable contribution through their leadership, innovation and courage to their industry.

Categories have been updated this year, so please review closely before commencing your entries.

Key Dates

  • On-time deadline: Friday 14th June 2019 (5pm AEST), entry fee $149 + GST each.
  • Late entries deadline: Friday 21st June 2019 (5pm AEST), entry fee $199 + GST each.
  • Shortlist announced: Thursday 18th of July 2019.
  • Awards gala dinner: Friday 23rd August 2019, Doltone House Jones Bay Wharf.

CRITERIA FOR BEST AD CAMPAIGN

This  category aims to recognise campaigns which champion the equality cause and contribute to the promotion of women. To be eligible, the campaign should have been live in market during the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.

    1. Outline the central idea behind this campaign in answering client’s brief (250 words – 40 points)
    2. Evidence of the quality of execution and integration in multiple media channels (200 words – 30 points)
    3. Demonstrate evidence of its effectiveness and success in targets set out by the brief (200 words – 30 points)

CRITERIA FOR EMPLOYER

    1. Evidence of a well thought out and executed recruitment policy that demonstrates how specific programs and initiatives have benefited females in the company (500 words – 30 points)
    2. Employers should provide two individual staff case studies of no more than 500 words each, from appropriate staff members detailing their own experiences at the company. One should be for a member of staff who joined during 2017-2019, the other for a member of staff who joined in 2016 or earlier (1000 words – 25 points each)
    3. Demonstrate a commitment to the development and retention of female talent (300 words – 20 points)

CRITERIA FOR CHAMPION OF CHANGE

This category is opened to both female and male senior leaders in the business who have taken action to drive widespread change in the workforce within the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.

    1. An outline of the significant contribution the entrant has made to the retention, progression, satisfaction or development of individuals or groups of females within their organisation and/or the profession (500 words – 40 points)
    2. A brief profile of the nominee, including significant achievements and accomplishments of note during their time with their organisation (500 words – 30 points)
    3. Two individual references of no more than 500 words each, from appropriate staff members detailing their own experiences with the nominee (1000 words – 15 points each)

CRITERIA FOR MENTOR

This category is opened to those who have mentored individual women within the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019.

    1. An outline of the significant contribution the entrant has made to the retention, progression, satisfaction or development of individuals or groups of females within their organisation and/or the profession (500 words – 40 points)
    2. A brief profile of the nominee, including significant achievements and accomplishments of note during their time with their organisation (500 words – 30 points)
    3. Two individual references of no more than 500 words each, from appropriate staff members detailing their own experiences with the nominee (1000 words – 15 points each)

CRITERIA FOR EXECUTIVE LEADER

  1. A brief overview of what the nominee has contributed in the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019, to their organisation, the advertising and media profession, and the wider community. Proven revenue and growth figures will aid your application – please note, these may be checked and clarified by our judging team (500 words - 50 points)
  2. Indicate how you’re advocating for a more inclusive culture and demonstrate the growth your leadership has created (400 words – 30 points)
  3. At least one reference from either a team member, community leader, academic or client must be included with the entry (300 words – 20 points)

CRITERIA FOR SOCIAL CHANGE MAKER

This newly created category aims to celebrate those who have dedicated significant time and effort to the community via charity and pro bono work.

    1. A brief overview of what the nominee has contributed in the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019, to the media profession and the wider community (500 words – 50 points)
    2. Outline the nominee’s future ambitions (500 words – 30 points)
    3. At least one reference from either an employer, community leader, academic or client must be included with the entry (300 words – 20 points)

 

CRITERIA FOR REMAINING CATEGORIES

The following criteria applies to the following categories: Creative, Creative Producer, Entrepreneur, Journalist / Producer, Marketing, Media Buyer / Planner, Public Relations, Rising Star, Strategy, Tech; and updated categories of Agency Sales/Account Management and Media Sales/Account Management.

Please note:

    • The Rising Star category has an additional age criteria: entrants must be UNDER the age of 30 by midnight, Friday 23rd August 2019.
    • The Creative category is opened to both individuals and creative duos.
    1. A brief overview of what the nominee has contributed in the judging period of January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2019, to the media profession and the wider community (500 words – 50 points)
    2. Outline the nominee’s future ambitions (500 words – 30 points)
    3. At least one reference from either an employer, community leader, academic or client must be included with the entry (300 words – 20 points)

GENERAL CRITERIA AND INFORMATION – APPLICABLE FOR ALL CATEGORIES

    1. The on-time deadline for entries is Friday 14th June 2019 (5pm AEST). Late entries are accepted until Friday 21st June 2019 (5pm AEST).
    2. The cost of each on-time entry is $149 (ex GST). Late entries are $199 (ex GST) each.
    3. You are eligible to enter more than one category, as long as the work submitted meets the criteria.
    4. Previous Women in Media award winners ARE eligible to enter again.
    5. Peer and self-nominations are accepted.
    6. Judging is done by a panel of industry experts and entries are given a score out of 100.
    7. Entry fees must be paid by credit card at time of completing online submissions. If your submission/s have not been paid for at close of entry they may not be included for judging.
    8. Please ensure all details are entered accurately, and please include nominee’s profile photo (in Attachment tab), as this will be used for the Awards presentation.
    9. All nominees must purchase ticket to attend awards gala dinner.
